Shoe Tying
Target Age:
Late Four-Year Old
Materials You Will Need:
piece of cardboard, stapler, two different colors of shoe laces
What To Do:
If your four year old is ready and interested, try this activity to help with shoe tying. Staple the ends of two different colors of shoe laces, (one black and one white is fine), to a piece of cardboard so that their ends are about an inch apart. Demonstrate the process of tying, using the two different colors to help you explain what you're doing. Give your child a chance to try as you stand behind to guide his/her fingers. This can be a slow process, so don't worry if your child becomes frustrated at first.
